After Halloween II in 2009, Michael Myers has been gone from the screen. However, that’s about to change.
A new addition to the original series has been announced, in an attempt to reboot the series, titled Halloween Returns. Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, who worked together on some of the later Saw movies, is writing the script. Dunstan will also be directing the film.
The story is to be set after the events of John Carpenter’s Halloween 2, from 1981, following the deputy in that film, Cary Hunt, who is now a sheriff, as well as his 18 year old kid. It will be ignoring the six other sequels, as well as the reboot series Rob Zombie directed in the late 2000s.
Halloween Returns will mark the 11th film in the series. A release date has yet to be announced.
